José Police Neto, 43, is a representative of the São Paulo City Council with the Social Democratic Party (PSD - Partido Social Democrático). He is currently serving his third term. President of the Council in 2011, he was re-elected in 2012.  Studied sociology in the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) between 1989-1993 with   further graduate   studies   at   Georgetown   University   (1994).   He   works intensively in urban development related problems in São Paulo, especially in matters such  as  social  housing, transportation  and  mobility, collective   transportation, urban planning and participative democracy. Authored important laws such as the   Social   Use   of   Urban   Property   law,   Land   and   Property   Ownership   and several   other   laws   aiming   to   improve   transparency and to  make possible social control in   government acts. He also studies environmental and sustainability issues as they related to large cities. Police Neto does not use the official car. He uses public transportation, bike or ride on their work commitments. In 2016 he was elected Chairman of the Traffic and Transport Committee of São Paulo City Council.
